Composite Fillings

Why do I need a composite filling?

  • A cavity (decay)
  • Small holes in the surface of a tooth
  • Chipped, cracked or fractured teeth
  • Replacement of a broken down filling

The Problem:

  • If decay is allowed to persist, the tooth can become more damaged over time leading to more costly dental treatment
  • Small holes allow food debris to get caught in the tooth leading to tooth decay
  • When issues such as chipped or cracked teeth are not timely taken care of they can lead to possible tooth loss depending on how a tooth breaks
  • Broken down fillings allow bacteria to bury deeper into tooth structure and can cause decay to progress faster

What is a composite filling?

  • A composite filling is a tooth colored dental material used to treat a small hole or cavity in a tooth.
